Are you wishing there was a way to have a night out at the theater? Or perhaps running low on shows from Netflix or Amazon? Now the theater will come to you! We’ve been enjoying Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Facebook videos (including Q&A and piano performance!) but what about seeing an entire show? Well, Mr. Webber has partnered with Universal and YouTube to provide a new musical each week. The YouTube channel is called “The Shows Must Go On!” and Mr. Webber himself jumped online to introduce the idea.
The YouTube Channel will be streaming a full-length musical every Friday starting at 7pm GMT for free, available for 48 hours so you can tune in whenever works for you during your weekend. Mr. Webber’s list of work is long and prolific–we anticipate he can keep us entertained for quite a while!
The first show to go on? Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
A Utah favorite for sure (Hi, Donny Osmond!) this is a fantastic production of a beautiful and variety-filled musical. With funny songs styled for country, disco, Elvis impersonations and more, there’s something here to make everyone smile. This is also the home of popular anthems “Any Dream Will Do” and “Close Every Door”.
And no, that is not the version of Cats that was in theaters recently. We haven’t been stuck at home that long yet.
So stay at home with Andrew Lloyd Webber! Visit the YouTube channel, subscribe, maybe pickup some awesome food, and enjoy!
