Summer Reading with Local Rewards
Read Today helps kids reach their literacy goals. This summer, kids ages 6-14 are challenged to ready 20 minutes a day. Complete the summer reading challenge and submit this form to receive fun prizes. The best part? Prizes include tickets to the Salt Lake Bees Game on August 11th! Other prizes include a book and a Happy Meal from McDonalds.
Here’s how to participate:
- Click Here to Download the game board
- For every 20 minutes you read, color in a baseball on the game board
- For each base you pass you earn a prize
- Submit your board here when it’s totally complete, not for each base you tag up
The deadline for submission is July 20th. If the Bees game is cancelled, readers will receive vouchers to attend a future game.

National Summer Reading Programs
While you’re already tracking your reading, there are other programs to earn rewards!
Barnes and Nobel has a reading rewards program for grades 1-6, where students can read 8 books this summer to earn a free book! Click the link to print your reading journal, then bring your completed journal to a Barnes & Noble store between July 1st and August 31st, 2020. The books that students can earn are at the link!
Scholastic is hosting a Read-a-Palooza, featuring digital resources through Home Base. Kids can create avatars to interact with favorite book characters, play games, read, and track their reading progress. While the rewards are largely digital (but fun!), kids also unlock reading donations. Scholastic’s goal is to donate 100,000 books this summer!
But what do we read?
Wondering where to start your reading adventures? The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) has a great assortment of reading lists!
Happy reading!
