While lots of Pioneer Day 2020 events have been canceled or adjusted, there’s still some fun out there this weekend! With an online concert, local activities, as well as the all-important fireworks, here are your options to celebrate.
Pioneer Day 2020 Fireworks
Bountiful Handcart Days is launching fireworks from Mueller Park Junior High on Friday night at dusk, about 9:30 pm. They ask that viewers social distance responsibly.
Fireworks at the Provo Towne Center will be at 10:00 PM, with parking lots be open for spectators to watch the show from their cars. The nearby Sam’s Club/At Home/Sportsman’s Warehouse parking lots are also a great location to watch the show. Feel free to hop on the roof of your car or pop out of the sunroof for a great view. If you do choose to exit your car, please park at least 1 spot away from other cars on all sides to maintain safe physical-distancing from other households. With over 5,000 parking stalls to choose it shouldn’t be a struggle. Similar to their drive-in movies, there will be no “tailgating” or group gatherings allowed. However, your household may set up a few lawn chairs close to your car, at least one parking lot space away from other vehicles on all sides.
Spanish Fork will launch fireworks at approximately 10:00 PM from the Sports Park. Spectators are encouraged to watch fireworks from alternate locations as the fireworks will have larger shells and will go higher than in years past. That necessitates a bigger fallout zone. As a result, some areas of the Sports Park will be closed. Organizers ask that if you choose to watch fireworks from the park, please follow social distancing guidelines. You can also tune your radios to 99.7 FM for synchronized music!
