We are actively looking for ways to continue supporting local businesses and artists! Maybe now is the perfect time to explore a new skill or brush up on an existing hobby. Salt Lake artists are ready to create with you! Kara Aina is a local artist and teacher–usually you can find her participating in art shows, teaching junior high and high school students, and leading local workshops. While we stay safe at home, she’s generously offering a free watercolor class online!

Free Watercolor Class with Kara Aina
Kara Aina is an artist born and raised in New Brunswick, Canada and now resides in Sandy, Utah. She has a BFA and majored in Intaglio and Lithography Printmaking. She now paints in her studio primarily in watercolor, and oils. Her work is inspired by connections and interactions she has with family, friends and nature. In addition to being an artist she is a mother to 4 sons and is an art educator; currently teaching at the middle and high school level at a local school in the valley. Kara also teaches a variety of art workshops throughout the state. Her Instagram often shows her painting on the go, from airplanes to swim meets! Participants in her classes have learned over 20 watercolor techniques, washes, and “special effects”, while also being guided in creating finished pieces.
On April 8th, Kara is teaching a live class on Instagram. Kara is a great guide, explaining both the technical elements of watercolor and the techniques that help artists achieve their desired results. “Misty Landscapes” will be on Wednesday, April 8th at 11:00am MST on Instagram Live. The video will remain on Kara’s Instagram for 24 hours after the workshop, if you’re unable to join live.
