In Salt Lake City
Temple Square. This classic display features lights and nativities from around the world. Don’t miss this one! Open until December 31, runs from dusk to 10:00 p.m.
City Creek Center. The new City Creek Center is decorated beautifully for the holidays, and Macy’s long-missed holiday windows are back, along with a Santa stand that you don’t have to wait in line for! They will text you when it’s your turn to see Mr. Claus. Fountain and fire shows take place at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
The Gateway Mall. The Starry Starry Nights Spectacular features over 600,000 lights that are choreographed with music and water at the Olympic Legacy Fountain nightly at 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. Runs through January 1.
Grand America This grand hotel hosts a lighting display, holiday windows, and gingerbread house. Also, follow the displays in retail windows for a surprise awaiting children once they complete the journey. A form at the front desk should entitle you to a free sugar cookie when you see everything!
If you don’t want to walk in the cold while you shop and view lights, ride the FREE Jingle Bus, a holiday bus that circulates between The Gateway, Temple Square, Gallivan Plaza, City Creek Center. It runs from 5:00 – 10:00 p.m., seven days a week, courtesy of the SLC Downtown Alliance.
Gardner Village Kids 12 and under are invited to find the twelve elves on this Scavenger Hunt list. Once you complete the list, take it to Naborhood Bakery and get a sugar cookie for only $0.35 (regularly $1)!
Christmas Street. This long-running display in Taylorsville is made up of houses where each is a page in the book of The Night Before Christmas. Great holiday lights are paired with the book page displays. Christmas Street is located at 3310 West Royal Wood Drive.
North of Salt Lake
Ogden City Christmas Village. This huge light display includes Santa’s Castle where little ones can visit St. Nick. There are also live performances here on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings. Open through January 1.
Layton Commons Park in Layton. You can walk or drive through this free display. Cheap hayrides are also offered on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:00-9:00 p.m. $2 for Adults, $1 for Kids and FREE for 5 and under.
